Thrift sale to benefit children’s home is seeking donations and shoppers

Sacred Heart Model School and St. Joseph Children’s Home will hold a Boutique Thrift Sale on March 20 from noon to 3 p.m. and on March 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the St. Joseph’s Children’s Home Gymnasium, 2823 Frankfort Avenue.

All proceeds will benefit three programs at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home: residential treatment; therapeutic foster care and adoption; and the child development center.
Donations of gently-used clothes, toys, sports equipment, school supplies and home goods are needed. Items may be dropped off at the St. Joseph Children’s Home Gymnasium on weekdays from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., beginning March 9.

“St. Joseph’s Children’s Home serves hundreds of children and young adults who are in marginalized situations. Many of those we serve are in abusive homes and are neglected. There are just so many children struggling and in need right now — it’s never been greater,” said Christina Miller, annual fund coordinator for the home.
