Teachers may apply for Marian scholarship

Marian University, a Catholic school in Indianapolis, and the Archdiocese of Louisville are working together to offer a full scholarship to a teacher currently serving in an Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic school.

The scholarship will cover tuition costs for one teacher interested in becoming a school administrator through the university’s master of arts degree in educational leadership with a concentration in Catholic education. The scholarship recipient may take classes at Marian’s main campus or at its satellite campus in Jeffersonville, Ind., according to a press release from the university.

Leisa Schulz, superintendant of schools for the archdiocese, said in the release, “We are grateful to Marian University for this opportunity for our teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity to seek out and empower future leaders of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville.”

The release noted that Marian is offering courses in Jeffersonville through a partnership with Greater Clark County Schools to make its administrator program available in Southern Indiana. The program is funded by a 2014 grant from Duke Energy, the release said.
