St. William to host ‘Convocation of the Faithful’ on sexual abuse crisis

St. William Church, 1226 West Oak Street, will host a local “Convocation of the Faithful” to discuss the church’s sexual abuse crisis on Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The convocation is meant to complement a global summit on the topic planned at the Vatican Feb. 21-24, according to an announcement about the local event.

The convocation at St. William aims to bring people together in prayer and dialogue “to create a safe space to discern together a path toward healing and transformation,” the announcement said.

Participants will consider: How have you been affected by the sexual abuse crisis? What needs to change in the church? What action steps can we take?

In addition to St. William, the convocation is co-hosted by the Sisters of Loretto, Xaverian Brothers, Ursuline Sisters, Dominican Sisters of Peace, Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.

The suggested donation for the convocation is $10, but scholarships are also available. Checks should be made payable to St. William. To register, email convocation
