A mechanical crane hoisted a 36-foot-long stainless steel cross into place at the top of the new St. Michael Church at 3705 Stone Lakes Drive last month. The more than 550 students at the parish school had the opportunity to pass by and touch the cross before it was lifted into place, according to Father Richard Sullivan, the parish pastor.

Father Sullivan and Father Kenny Kamber blessed the cross and were assisted by Pastoral Associate Brenda Ricketer, the coordinator of the parish building committee. The new church will be ready in May and will seat up to 1,600 people. It will also include a chapel for weekday liturgies.
