St. Meinrad will present annual Black History lecture Feb. 7

RecordLogo-FSt. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, in St. Meinrad Ind., will hold its annual Black History lecture Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.CDT in the St. Bede Theater. Dr. Cecilia Moore, as associate professor at the University of Dayton, will present “Hidden in Plain View: Black Catholics and the Civil Rights Movement.”

The lecture will present the “hidden history of black Catholics and their allies in advancing the agenda of the modern civil rights movement,” stated a press release from St. Meindrad. The lecture will also “consider the contemporary Catholic Church in the United States and its relationship to current efforts to retain and expand civil rights, particularly for African-Americans.”
