Students at St. Leonard School are taking advantage of the fall weather to learn outdoors.

Students in the first-, second- and third-grade took their math lessons outside on Oct. 19. They walked along Hillcrest Avenue, where Halloween decorations proliferate. They counted all the pumpkins and Halloween decorations they saw along the way. The data they collected was later used in the classroom.

Students in the fourth-grade visited residents of the Clifton Oaks Care nursing home Oct. 19. They talked with residents and sang Halloween songs. They also traced the residents’ handprints onto a Halloween banner for the center.
