St. James Church will present Lenten Fine Arts series of recitals

The second annual Lenten Fine Arts series at St. James Church in the Highlands, 1826 Edenside Avenue, will begin on Feb. 25 with a concert by organist Timothy Lee Baker, assistant director of music at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church, on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.

Baker’s program will feature works by Bach, Albinoni, Clokey, Karg-Elert and Reger. The recital will be performed on St. James’ historic 1931 Pilcher/2012 Webber pipe organ of more than 2,200 pipes.

On Feb. 28 at 3 p.m., the Brass Band of Louisville will present a program at St. James under the direction of Dr. Reese Land, professor of trumpet at the University of Louisville.

On March 10, organist Margaret Dickinson will perform at St. James. Dickinson was organist at Calvary Episcopal Church for over 40 years and co-founded the Louisville Bach Society with her late husband, Melvin Dickinson.
