St. Catherine School in New Haven marks 145 years, honors class of 1938

St. Catherine School in New Haven, Ky., which is celebrating its 145th anniversary this year, honored two graduates of the class of 1938 during alumni events in late August.

The St. Catherine Alumni Association presented certificates to Cecilia Boone Johnson and Dolores Greenwell Payne, who graduated from the school 75 years ago. Elizabeth Johnson, who also graduated 75 years ago, could not attend the celebration. The class of 1938 originally had 11 graduates.

Nine members of the class of 1953 also attended the event. The class originally had 22 members; eight are deceased. Among the 1953 graduates was Father Clarence Howard, who later served as pastor of the parish.

The parish has created a book chronicling the history of the church and school called Friends United Forever. For more information about the book or the St. Catherine Alumni Association, send an email to scaanewhaven@aol.com.
