St. Catherine Academy in New Haven names a new principal

St. Catherine Academy in New Haven, Ky., has named Jessie Reed as the new interim principal.

Reed, a current member of the faculty, has taught for eight years in both Nelson County and Archdiocese of Louisville schools. She began as a part-time teacher at St. Catherine in 2014. In 2016, she joined the faculty on a full-time basis teaching eighth-grade religion and directing homeroom for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grades.

According to an announcement from Father Matthew Hardesty, pastor of St. Catherine Church, Reed has “proven to be a faithful and enthusiastic Catholic teacher.”

She has also volunteered as a religious education teacher at St. Vincent de Paul Church in New Hope, Ky., since 2013, where she teaches fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grades.

Reed succeeds Jo Renee O’Bryan who has served at St. Catherine for 23 years, 15 as principal. She has accepted the position of second-grade teacher at St. Gregory School in Samuels, Ky.
