Sr. Mary Mercedes Knott dies at Mount St. Joseph

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Mary Mercedes Knott, 90, died Feb. 21 at Mount St. Joseph, Ky. She was in her 65th year of religious life.

Sister Knott  ministered at the St. Catherine Convent in New Haven, Ky., and at the St. Denis and St. Angela Convents in Louisville. For many years she served in the diet kitchen at Mount St. Joseph and also served in Nebraska and New Mexico.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary Frances Smith of Boone, N. C., Mabel Eloise Macke of St. Paul, Mo., and Margaret Aurelia Brown of Arnold, Mo.; and two brothers, Charles C. Knott of Arnold, Mo., and James Patrick Knott of Imperial, Mo.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 26 at Mount St. Joseph. Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, Ky., 42356.
