Students processed into Canaan Christian Church, 2840 Hikes Lane, June 3 for Spalding University’s commencement ceremony.

The school conferred 566 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Spalding’s president, Dr. Tori Murden McClure, below, presented the honorary doctor of public service degree to Lonnie Ali, the widow of boxing legend Muhammad Ali who died last year.

The university also honored Susan McKim Griffin, founder of Griffin Fundrasing and Marketing. She received the Caritas Medal alumni award, the university’s highest honor. The medal’s name comes from the motto of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, whose founder established the university.
