Sister William Marian Meany dies at 91

Sister of Charity of Nazareth William Marian Meany died at Nazareth Home on June 7. She was 91 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 62 years.

Sister Meany, a Louisville native, served in health care at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, St. Joseph Infirmary and Nazareth Home for nearly 40 years. In later years, she served in the Apostolate of Prayer. She became a resident of Nazareth Home in July 2009.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Wanda Meany; nephew, William Meany, his wife and their five children, all of Louisville; and her religious community.

Visitation will be June 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road. A prayer service will be held at Nazareth Home on June 10 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. in Nazareth Cemetery on the grounds of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth campus in Nazareth, Ky.
