Sister of Charity of Nazareth Virginia Ann Lachenmann, 96, dies

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Virginia Ann Lachenmann, a native of Covington, Ky., died at Nazareth Motherhouse in Nazareth, Ky., on July 24. She was 96 years old and was in her 76th year of religious life.

Sister Lachenmann served in elementary education in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at St. Philip Neri School as a teacher and later as principal. She also served as principal of St. Patrick and St. Cecilia schools. She worked in child care at St. Thomas-St. Vincent Home and later served in community service, health care and housing ministry in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Arkansas.

Survivors include nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church in Nazareth July 28. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 29 at St. Vincent Church at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
