Sister of Mercy Martha Leis, a retreat leader, dies

Sister of Mercy Martha Leis died March 7 in Crestwood, Ky. She was 82 years old and had been a Sister of Mercy for 67 years.

Sister Leis entered the Sisters of Mercy in Cincinnati. She taught at Mercy Montessori in Cincinnati and at Immaculate Conception School in LaGrange, Ky.

Since 2006, she had ministered at Lake St. Joseph Retreat Center in Crestwood.

Sister Leis is survived by her siblings, Robert Leis, Sister of Mercy Mary Agnella Leis and Jane Leis, many nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was March 10 at Immaculate Conception Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials made be made to the Sisters of Mercy Southcentral Community Ministry Fund, 101 Mercy Drive, Belmont, N.C., 28012 or to the Agape Shop in LaGrange.
