Seminar for parents about underage drinking is set

The Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace on Newburg Road, will host a free seminar for parents entitled “Underage Drinking: What Parents Need to Know and What Professionals Need to Do.”

The seminar, part of the Peace for Parents Program, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Jewish Hospital Medical Center Southwest, 9700 Stonestreet Road.

The presentation, according to a news release from Our Lady of Peace, “will help parents navigate the signs of health and behavioral problems associated with underage drinking.”

It will also “guide parents on how to work with professionals for prevention and treatment of teenage drinking problems.”

“Peace for Parents” is a series of free seminars intended to guide parents with school-age children through topics that, while common, can often be difficult to deal with. Licensed Clinical Social Worker Jean Marlatt Henry will lead the seminar, which will also include a question and answer session.
