SCNs install new leaders during multimedia event

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth installed their new three-person Central Leadership Team during a special celebration held recently at the Nazareth, Ky., campus and in their other ministry locations around the world. The ministry sites were connected during the installation via Skype and webcast.

The new leadership team is led by the president, Sister Susan Gatz, a former teacher and outgoing vice president who previously served as provincial of the sisters’ Western Province.

The sisters also installed two vice presidents. Vice President Sister Brenda Gonzales has served in young adult ministry and formation ministry in various places, including Texas and Belize. She is also a former vice provincial for the sisters’ Western Province.

The other vice president is Sister Sangeeta Ayithamattam, who has served in hospital administration in India and is a former provincial for the sisters’ Eastern Province. She took part in the installation in India and interacted during the ceremony through Skype, an internet-based service that allows people to communicate through video in real time.

The celebration was attended by various community and religious leaders, including Archbishop of Louisville Joseph E. Kurtz, who remarked on the many ways the SCNs embrace technology to connect their community around the world, according to a press release from the sisters.
