Sacred Heart Schools send Christmas cheer to Appalachian families

Photo Special to The Record

Sacred Heart Academy students filled a truck with toys and shoes Nov. 12 for needy families in Appalachia. The gifts were delivered to Christian Help of Mingo County, a non-profit started by Ursuline Sister Brendan Conlon in Kermit, West Virginia. Sacred Heart Schools’ staff and students collected more than 100 containers, each filled with toys, for the campus’ 23rd annual Appalachian Gift drive. The students also collected close to $4,000, which will help provide Christmas meals for families in Mingo County. Footworks in St. Matthews donated 250 pairs of shoes to the gift drive.
