Sacred Heart Schools announces its next president, Dr. Karen McNay

The Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart Schools announced Jan. 15 the appointment of Dr. Karen McNay as its next president, effective June 30.

McNay joins Sacred Heart Schools with more than 20 years of experience in education. She currently serves as president of Ursuline Academy of New Orleans.

During her tenure as president of Ursuline Academy, “her leadership helped to shape and advance many areas of the school, including doubling the endowment and guiding the school’s negotiations with FEMA post-Hurricane Katrina,” according to a news release from Sacred Heart.

She has also served as a teacher and as a principal in Lexington, Ky. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, a master of education degree from Xavier University and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Kentucky.

Sacred Heart Schools is comprised of Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Model School, Sacred Heart Preschool and Sacred Heart School for the Arts. The schools serve nearly 2,000 students.

Current president Cynthia Crabtree announced her intent to retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year last July.
