Sacred Heart Academy is accepting nominations for its 2017 Alumna of the Year award to be presented during the school’s 27th annual Alumnae Awards celebration on Feb. 1.
The Alumna of the Year award is presented to a graduate “who has contributed significantly to her community and enriched the lives of those around her,” a news release from the school said.
Nominations are also being sought for the Heart Award, presented yearly to Sacred Heart Academy graduates or individuals “who live out the core value of service through their contributions to SHA or in the local community,” the news release said.
The Ursuline Teaching Legacy Award will be presented to an alumna who has dedicated 20 or more years to teaching. The award was established in 2008 by the school’s Alumnae Board to honor the Ursuline Sisters’ anniversary of teaching in Louisville.
Former athletes, coaches and individuals who have been “exceptionally loyal supporters of Sacred Heart Academy athletics will also be considered” for induction into the Valkyrie Hall of Fame.
Nominees must have graduated at least 10 years ago, performed “with excellence” in a varsity sport and continue to show sportsmanship to family and community.
An Honorary Diploma will be given to an individual who did not graduate from SHA, but “whose devotion is equal to completing the requirements for a diploma,” said the release.
Nominations and supporting documentation should be mailed to Nannette Mershon, SHA Alumnae Director, Sacred Heart Schools, 3177 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky., 40206, emailed to nmershon@shslou.org or submitted online at shslou.org/awardsnomination by Oct. 12.
