Religious communities plan discernment weekends

RecordLogo-FSingle Catholic men and women are invited to attend vocation discernment retreats in August and September.

  • Women ages 18 to 45 “exploring a call to religious life,” are invited by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCNs) to attend a retreat weekend from Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. to August 14 at 1 p.m. on the SCN campus in Nazareth, Ky.   • Single Catholic men ages 18 to 35 in good “health of mind and body” are invited to take part in a “come and see” vocation weekend retreat Sept. 2 through Sept. 4 at the Abbey of Gethsemani, 3642 Monks Road, Trappist, Ky.
    Participants will attend the liturgy of the hours in choir with the monks and tour the work places of the monks. On Sunday, Sept. 2, participants will process into the chapter room with the monks and listen to the abbot’s weekly spiritual talk.   • Single Catholic men ages 18 to 35 “who are interested in a possible monastic vocation” are invited to a “come and see” weekend Sept. 23 to 25 on the campus of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, 200 Hill Drive, St. Meinrad, Ind.
    Participants will stay in the monastery guest house and eat and pray with the monastic community. They will also have the opportunity to take part in morning work and hear from monks on different aspects of monastic life.
