Rallies set for Aug. 22 at Planned Parenthood

A coalition of pro-life groups around the nation plan to hold rallies on Aug. 22 at Planned Parenthood Federation of America facilities. The United Sates Conference of Catholic Bishops and Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, president of the conference, are encouraging people to take part.

The rallies have been organized in response to allegations that Planned Parenthood adjusts its abortion procedures to preserve fetal organs and sells fetal tissue. Planned Parenthood has denied allegations that it sells fetal tissue.

In Louisville, a rally of prayer and witness is planned from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1025 S. Second St., a Planned Parenthood clinic that offers referrals for abortions and provides other services.

Archbishop Kurtz wrote on his blog about the rallies last week saying, “Like countless Americans, I have been appalled with the practices that have come to light, but I am even more appalled by the ongoing reality of abortion itself — the taking of innocent human life on a massive scale for decades.”

He also noted that the Catholic charitable agencies offer alternatives to abortion.

“Please join me in praying for all unborn children and their mothers, as well as for those who work for Planned Parenthood, and all of those bound up in the tragedy of abortion,” he concluded.
