The Queen’s Daughters held their annual Mary’s Day Mass on May 13 at the Cathedral of the Assumption and announced after Mass the winners of their yearly partial scholarships, which this year totalled $16,000.

At a luncheon in the Cathedral’s undercroft, the scholarship winners were feted and posed for pictures with Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, who presided at the Mass.
This year’s scholarship winners — awarded to eighth-graders for use at the Catholic high school of their choice —  were:

  • Gloria Fan of St. Nicholas Academy. She will be attending Assumption High School.
  • Haysley Kelty of St. Stephen Martyr School, who will attend Presentation Academy.
  • Matthew Ryan Clemons, also of St. Stephen Martyr, who will attend St. Xavier High School.
  • Phillip Thornberry of Holy Family School. He will attend DeSales High School.

The Queen’s Daughters is in its 99th year as an archdiocesan organization, and will turn 100 years old next February.
