Program to be offered for parents with school-aged children

Dr. Leonard Sax, a physician and psychologist, will present “Instagram Ate my Daughter and My Son Won’t Stop Playing Fortnite — What Parents Need to Know to Improve the Odds for their Children,” on Sept. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Mercy Academy, 5801 Fegenbush Lane.

Dr. Sax will address the following issues:

What are kids really doing online and on their smartphones with social media?

How do I respond when my child experiences disappointment?

What can I do to improve the odds for my child?

How can evidence-based guidelines for best practices in parenting empower me?

Dr. Sax graduated Phi Beta Kappa from MIT at the age of 19. In this presentation he will draw on 26 years of clinical experience, as well as his visits to over 400 schools in the past 17 years, to share his recommendations to fellow parents. Dr. Sax is the author of four books, including the New York Times bestseller, “The Collapse of Parenting.”
