A variety of events are planned this month to mark the anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court decision in the case of Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Among them are:
-About 300 students and chaperones from the Archdiocese of Louisville are expected to attend the Jan. 22 Youth Rally and Mass for Life, followed by the national March for Life, in Washington, D.C.
Youth from the archdiocese will attend Mass at the Verizon Center, where Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz is expected to concelebrate. Another Mass will be celebrated at the D.C. Armory. Afterward, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to take part in the March for Life.
-The Archdiocese of Louisville’s own Walk for Life, an annual prayer walk in downtown Louisville, will also be held on Jan. 22. The 1.5-mile prayer walk will begin at 5 p.m. in the undercroft of the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 S. Fifth St.

-The Knights of Columbus annual Memorial Mass for Life will be celebrated on Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. by Archbishop Kurtz at St. Martin of Tours Church, 639 S. Shelby St.
