Presentation on ‘Camino’ pilgrimage set May 26, ahead of pastor’s trek

St. Joseph Church in Butchertown, 1406 E. Washington St., will host a talk about the pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain in connection with the 4 p.m. Mass May 26.

Dr. Edward F. Stanton, a retired professor of Spanish at the University of Kentucky and author of “Road of Stars to Santiago,” will provide information about the pilgrimage. His book details his 500-mile walk as a pilgrim to the Church of Santiago de Compostela.

Father David Sánchez, pastor of St. Joseph, will make a pilgrimage to the Church of Santiago de Compostela this summer. His route will take him on a 950 mile-trek from southern France. He hopes to raise funds for the restoration of St. Joseph through his pilgrimage.
