Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations are scheduled

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry (OMM) will celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe Dec. 12 at two locations. One service will begin at 5 a.m. at St. Rita Church, 8709 Preston Highway; a second will be at 7 p.m. at St. James Church in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will celebrate the feast day with Mass at both locations. Our Lady of Guadalupe is also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe and is the patroness of Mexico.

Other parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Louisville will also hold celebrations in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe during December. They include:

– Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Ky. — The rosary will be prayed at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 12, followed by Mañanitas (an early morning celebration and service) at 5 a.m. and Mass at 6 p.m.

– The Church of the Annunciation in Shelbyville, Ky. — A Mañanitas will be held from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. Dec. 12 and Mass will be at 7 p.m.

– St. James Church in  Elizabethtown, Ky. — A Mañanitas with mariachi will be held Dec. 11 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., with Mass Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.

– St. Edward Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive — Will hold a Mañanitas at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 12, with Mass that evening at 6:30 p.m.

– St. Bartholomew Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road — A Mañanitas will be held at 5 a.m. with Mass at 7 p.m., both on Dec. 12.

– Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hodgenville, Ky. — The parish will have Mass at 7 p.m. Dec. 12.

– St. Rita Church, 8709 Preston Highway — The parish will hold an Our Lady of Guadalupe novena in Spanish through Dec. 11 (call the parish for times); a St. Juan Diego Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 and confessions will be heard at 10 p.m. on Dec. 11. Dec. 12 Masses will be held at 5 a.m. and 7 p.m.

– Holy Name Church at 2914 S. Third St. — The parish will hold Mass at 11 p.m. on Dec. 11, followed by a Mañanitas.

– St. Dominic Church in Springfield, Ky. — The parish will have a Mañanitas with the rosary at 5 a.m.; Mass will be at 5:30 a.m., all on Dec. 12.

– St. Helen Church in Glasgow, Ky. — An Our Lady of Guadalupe novena will be held through Dec. 11 (call the parish for times), and a procession will be held at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 12 before a 5 p.m. Mass.
