Oct. 28 service to highlight plight of nation’s immigrants

The public is invited to attend a prayer service highlighting the plight of immigrants on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. It will be conducted at the site of a billboard that advocates for immigrants at 13010 Dixie Highway.

In Louisville, the billboards have been placed at 6208 Strawberry Lane and Allmond and at 13010 Dixie Highway.

The billboard and others like it have been erected in Kentucky and Ohio. They are sponsored in part by women religious from region six of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. The signs say, “I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Jesus.”  The words “a stranger” are crossed out and replaced by “an immigrant.”

The prayer service will be hosted by area women religious with the theme, “Welcoming the Immigrants We Once Were.” Parking is available near the billboard at Uncle Bob’s Cycles and High Fashion Hair Salon.
