The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry and its African Ministries will offer a Swahili Mass (Kiswahili Misa) on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 3112 West Broadway. Apostle of Jesus Father Deogratias Ssamba will preside.
Swahili is a Bantu language widely used as a lingua franca — a language that is adopted by speakers whose native languages are different — in East Africa and has official status in several countries.
The Mass in Swahili will be celebrated on the third Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. While it will normally be celebrated at St. Martin de Porres, the Mass on March 16 will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 3509 Taylor Boulevard.
