Luncheon will benefit the Catholic Enrichment Center

Record Staff Report

The sixth annual “Heroes of Hope Awards Luncheon: Saluting Our Community Leaders” will be held at the Catholic Enrichment Center (CEC), 3146 W. Broadway, on Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m.

The fundraising event, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry, will support the work of the CEC. During the luncheon, four individuals and a business will be honored for their “contributions to and in support of youth development, family empowerment, the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry and its Catholic Enrichment Center,” an announcement about the event said.

This year’s honorees and their awards are:

  • Volunteer awards will be presented to Lafayette Cowden III, a member of Christ the King Church, and Subrinia Lain, a member of St. Augustine Church. The award recognizes those who volunteer their time at the CEC and are among “its biggest champions,” the announcement said.

  • Social Concerns awards will be presented to Shaun A. Wimberly Sr. and Marque G. Carey, attorneys. This award recognizes those who work with the CEC to provide programs and experiences based on the principles of Catholic social teaching. “Social justice is at the core of this award and the programs that are connected to it,” the announcement said.

  • The Family Focus award will be presented to JenCare Senior Medical Center. This award is presented to those who assist the CEC with programs and experiences “designed to empower the family through health and wellness, nutrition, budget and finance and more,” the announcement said.

Tickets are $30 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Catholic Enrichment Center at 776-0262.
