Local students win Derby Museum art contest

Ana Federico, a senior at Mercy Academy, was named the grand-prize winner in the 34th annual Kentucky Derby Museum Horsing Around With Art Contest.

Other winners from Catholic schools are:
Alyssa Drury, a junior at Mercy, won first place in the high school division.
Clara Frye, a seventh-grader at St. Agnes School won second place in the middle school division.
Jessica Cundiff, a senior at Holy Cross High School, won the sculpture award in the high school division.
Caroline Pringle, a seventh-grader at St. Agnes School, won the Outriders Society Award and Raegan McGarry, a fourth-grader at St. Margaret Mary School, won the Millinery Fashion Award.

The artwork will be on display through March 15 in the Derby museum’s Carl F. Pollard Gallery. Winners will be honored at a ceremony Feb. 18.
