Little Sister Genevieve de Marie Fitzpatrick, 88, dies

Little Sister of the Poor Genevieve de Marie Fitzpatrick, formerly Rita Marietta Fitzpatrick, died May 19 at the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged. She was a professed Little Sister of the Poor for 63 years.

Sister Genevieve, 88, was a native of the Bronx, N.Y. During her 63 years of religious life, she served the needy elderly in several homes throughout the country, including for 17 years in Louisville.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

Visitation will be today, May 23, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Home, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive, with a rosary vigil at 4:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 24 a 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive, Louisville, Ky., 40217.
