Jockey of Triple Crown winner to headline ‘Race for Grace’ benefit

The Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy (KRTC) will hold the “Race for Grace” fundraising dinner April 29 on Millionaires Row at Churchill Downs.

Mike Smith, jockey of Triple Crown winner and “Horse of the Year” Justify, will be interviewed by Elliott Walden, president and CEO and racing manager of WinStar Farms, at the event. Tickets are $150 per person, and a table for eight is $1,100. Various levels of sponsorship are also available. The evening will include live and silent auctions of “unique horseracing memorabilia, sports tickets” and other items, a news release said.

The KRTC offers ecumenical worship services in English and Spanish each week. A network of churches, including Epiphany, Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Edward churches fill various volunteer roles at Christ Chapel, located on the backside of Churchill Downs.

Proceeds from the dinner support the chaplaincy’s ministry to track workers. For reservations and sponsorship opportunities, visit kychaplaincy.org or contact Mandi Clark at mandi@kychaplaincy.org or 603-496-9295.
