Holy Spirit dedicates San Damiano Cross

Third-grade students ate their lunch beneath a replica of the San Damiano Cross at Holy Spirit School, 322 Cannons Lane, on Oct. 17. The newly-made cross, sponsored by the Holy Spirit Men’s Club, hangs in the school’s cafeteria. The installation of the cross took place on Oct. 3, a day before the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis was praying before the original San Damiano Cross when he received the call from the Lord to rebuild the church. The original hangs in the Basilica of Saint Clare in Assisi, Italy.
