The late Father Charles J. Bindner, a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville and retired chaplain in the United States Army, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Sept. 14 with military honors. Father Bindner, who died on May 3 at age 83, served in Vietnam with the Second Brigade, First Infantry Division, and later with the 6th Convalescent Center. He earned a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and a Medal of Valor. He was a lieutenant colonel when he retired after 20 years of service. (Photo Special to The Record by Sharan Benton)
