Four Bethlehem alumni are recognized at celebration

Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, Ky., honored four alumni at its annual Hall of Fame dinner Aug. 9 at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

Belinda Monin was awarded the Star Award, which is given to an individual who is not an alumnus but “who has contributed significantly to the Bethlehem community,” a news release from the school said.

Jack Kelly, a 1999 graduate, received the Alumnus of the Year Award. Kelly was elected as the Nelson District Judge in 2012. He was the first Bethlehem graduate to hold the position and the youngest person ever elected to this role.

Scarlett Guthrie Hibbs, a 1967 alumnus, received the Hall of Fame Award. This award is presented to a Bethlehem graduate “for a culmination of their outstanding contributions and achievements,” the release said.

The Athletic Award, making its debut this year, was presented posthumously to Jimmy Crawford, a 1983 graduate. This award recognizes a current or former athletic coach, former athlete or athletic volunteer “who has contributed to excellence in athletics,” the release said.
