Founder of Homeboy Industries will host talk on substance recovery

Jesuit Father Greg Boyle, founder and executive director of Homeboy Industries, will present a talk titled “LOVE>FEAR: Cultivating Kinship in Louisville” at St. Matthews Episcopal Church Aug. 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Homeboy Industries provides training and support to high-risk, formerly gang-involved young men and women in Los Angeles. Father Boyle and his colleagues at Homeboy will discuss how their model “can be replicated in Louisville for young parents in recovery from previous substance misuse,” a news release for the event said.

The event is hosted by ChooseWell Communities and the Founding Families of Project Thrive. Tickets for the event are $30 and go to support ChooseWell’s initiatives in Louisville. ChooseWell is a non-profit organization that assists families who have previously been affected by parental substance abuse.
