Formation sessions for extraordinary ministers of holy Communion set

The Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Worship will offer formation sessions for extraordinary ministers of holy Communion in May.

Communion minister formation sessions will be May 8 and 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 Broadway.

This four-hour program is for those preparing to serve as extraordinary ministers of holy Communion, as well as those who are presently serving in this role but have not attended this program in the past. The sessions include the Theology of the Eucharist, liturgical ministry and the practical aspects of the role of Communion minister. The program fulfills the training portion of the canonical mandate required for this ministry.

An update session will be held May 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Michael Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Dr. The Communion minister update session is for ministers who need a mandate renewal. It fulfills the requirements for continuing formation for extraordinary ministers of holy Communion.
