Father Clyde Crews publishes new book on Bellarmine’s history

Father Clyde Crews has published a new book, “In Veritatis Amore,” that chronicles Bellarmine University’s history. Father Crews, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, is the university’s historian and archival coordinator.

The book includes hundreds of historical photos and a section on the history of Bellarmine athletics, according to a press release from the university.

It “covers the university’s predecessor institutions of higher education and spans the nearly 70 years of Bellarmine’s transformation, from its origins as a fledgling college to a renowned university in the  21st century,” said the release.

Dr. Susan M. Donovan, Bellarmine’s president, said Father Crews’ book is essential reading for every member of the Bellarmine community. “It truly captures the vision and transformation of one of Louisville’s jewels — Bellarmine University,” she said in the release.

Father Crews graduated from Bellarmine in 1966 and taught theology at the university. “In Veritatis Amore” was published by Bellarmine University Press. The book, priced at $36.95, is available at the Bellarmine campus bookstore or online at www.bellarmine.edu/in-veritatis-amore.
