Dominican Sister Thomas Joseph Nacy dies at 91

Dominican Sister of Peace Thomas Joseph Nacy died on May 1 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She was 91 and had been a Dominican for 65 years.

Sister Nacy, a native of Mattoon, Ill., served as a teacher at the old SS. Simon and Jude School and West End Catholic in Louisville and at schools in Illinois, New Jersey and Nebraska. 

She also served as a receptionist at Sansbury Care Center and then as a volunteer until 2009. In 2010, she moved to Sansbury Care Center, where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

She is survived by several cousins.

The visitation will begin at 3 p.m. May 9 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. May 10 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
