Dominican Sister of Peace Ann Bell died July 24 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She was 90 and in her 69th year of religious life.
Sister Bell, a native of Springfield, Ky., served in education in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio and in various leadership roles within her community.
In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Bell served as superior/principal at St. Stephen Martyr School. She was the regional superior of the southern region from 1966-1971. She later became the director of the school food service for the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Catholic Schools Office. In 1976, Sister Bell served as the coordinator and director of programs at St. Catharine Motherhouse in St. Catharine, Ky.
In 1979, she served as registrar and director of admissions at St. Catharine College.
Sister Bell was also the registrar for graduate programs at Spalding University. In 1988, she was elected to serve as a governing board member. Following her term in office, she worked as the assistant to the director of Project AIMM. In 1995, she served as an office assistant at Holy Spirit School. In 2001, she volunteered at St. Pius X Church and later retired to a ministry of prayer.
In 2006, Sister Bell moved to Sansbury Care Center where she continued her ministry of prayer and presence.
She is survived by three sisters, Jane and Pat Bell and Margaret Riney of Louisville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be July 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel.
Visitation will be July 27 at 3 p.m. at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel.
Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
