Dominican Sister of Peace Columba Casey dies at 100

Dominican Sister of Peace Columba Casey, 100, died March 23 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky.

Sister Casey, a native of Greeley, Neb., was a Dominican for 81 years. She primarily ministered in education and pastoral ministry in Nebraska, New York, Kentucky and Illinois.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Holy Rosary Academy. In 2002, she moved to the St. Catharine Motherhouse where she provided community service. In 2007, she moved to the Sansbury Care Center, where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

Sister Casey is survived by several nieces and nephews. The visitation will begin at 3 p.m. March 27 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in the St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
