Dominican Sister of Peace Josetta Barnard, 97, died Feb. 17 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She was a native of Omaha, Neb., and had been a Dominican Sister of Peace for 76 years.
Sister Barnard served in education in Tennessee, West Virginia, Nebraska, Illinois, Arkansas and in the Diocese of Owensboro.
In 2002, Sister Barnard moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse where she provided community service. In 2009, she moved to Sansbury Care Center and entered a ministry of “prayer and presence.”
Visitation begins at 9:45 Feb. 20 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Following visitation, the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will be at the St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
