Deacon Robert Burns dies at 79

RecordLogo-FDeacon Robert Burns of Indianapolis died Dec. 9 at the age of 79.

Deacon Burns was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Louisville on Aug. 20, 1977. He served at Our Lady Help of Christians Church and as a chaplain at Central State Hospital. (Our Lady Help of Christians, St. Clement, Our Lady of Consolation, St. Polycarp and St. Timothy parishes merged to form St. Peter the Apostle Church in 2008.)

Deacon Burns is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Bob (Sally) Burns, Jr.; Craig (Stephenie) Burns; David (Kim) Burns; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Dec. 12 at Newcomer Funeral Home in Louisville.
