Deacon James Young dies at the age of 65

Deacon R. James Young, a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died on May 21. He was 65 years old.

Deacon Young was ordained a deacon in 1993 and had served at St. Ignatius Martyr and Holy Spirit churches until 2006.

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Young; children, Derek and Michael Young; siblings, William, Roger, Tony, Rodney and Stacey Young; and five grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 27 at St. Athanasius Church. Entombment was at Evergreen Cemetery.
