Deacon Charles ‘Wayne’ Thieneman dies at 67

Deacon Charles Wayne Thieneman

Deacon Charles “Wayne” Thieneman, who served as a deacon for 25 years, died Feb. 3. He was 67 years old.

Deacon Thieneman was ordained Aug. 28, 1993, by Archbishop Thomas C. Kelly. He was assigned to the following parishes: the old Our Lady of Consolation, St. Peter the Apostle and St. Lawrence churches.

He was also a member of St. Peter the Apostle, served as an Ursuline Associate for more than 25 years, belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a former board member of Harbor House. 

He is survived by his wife Audrey Dawson Thieneman; two sons, Scott Thieneman and Adam Thieneman; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his mother Delores Thieneman; two brothers, Ronald and Tim Thieneman; sisters, Diane England, Linda Ford, Sandy Bland and Mary Lou Lotz; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Feb. 7 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle, 5431 Johnstown Road, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
