Day Spring’s “Concrete Ball” set for May 19

The Day Spring Foundation’s annual “Concrete Ball” will be held May 19 at the Downtown Marriott, 280 W. Jefferson St.

The Concrete Ball, named for a substance that is a symbol of strength and stability, is held each year to raise financial support for Day Spring, the Louisville-based community that empowers adults with intellectual disabilities to live in a supported, residential setting.

The year’s theme for the event is “Off to the Races.” A cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. and include a silent auction. A “Kentucky Derby style” dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m., according to a news release from Day Spring. And music and dancing will be held from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

Throughout the evening there will be a live auction and various games of chance. There will also be a “Ladies Best Derby Hat” contest and a “Best Dressed Gentleman’s” contest.

Raffle tickets will be sold at $10 apiece with a jackpot of $15,000. For information, call 636-5990, ext. 208.
