CSAA’s tennis and golf championships are decided

The Catholic School Athletic Association tennis championships were decided earlier this month in matches that were held at both Sacred Heart and Mercy Academy. Golf championships, both team and individual, were determined after matches that were played at Iroquois Golf Course.

This year’s results included a new “advanced” tennis division for senior boys and girls.
Team tennis champions were:

Senior Boys — Our Lady of Lourdes School.
Junior Boys — Holy Trinity School.
Senior Girls — Holy Trinity School.
Junior Girls — St. Patrick School.

Individual tennis champions were:

Senior Boys — Jonah Largen of St. Michael School defeated Mason McNicol of St. Martha School.
Senior Boys Advanced — Drew Singerman of Our Lady of Lourdes School defeated Tommy McConville of St. Albert the Great School.
Junior Boys — Preston Cameron of St. Albert the Great School defeated Andy Keal of Holy Trinity School.
Senior Girls — Andie MacMillan of St. Patrick School defeated Gracie Carnes of Holy Trinity School.
Senior Girls Advanced — Caroline Cox of Sacred Heart Model School defeated Kailey King of Sacred Heart Model School.
Junior Girls — Abby Birk of St. Patrick School defeated Sarah Fitzgerald of St. Patrick School.

In golf competition, Holy Trinity School won the eighth-grade boy’s championship. St. Nicholas Academy was second. (There was no girls’ team competition in grades eight, seven or five.) In seventh-grade boys team competition, St. Patrick School was first, St. Agnes School second and St. Martha School third.

Holy Trinity School also won the boys’ sixth grade championship, with St. Patrick School second and Notre Dame Academy finishing third. St. Patrick also won the girls’ sixth-grade team championship.
In the fifth-grade boys tournament, St. Margaret Mary School was first, St. Albert the Great School was second and St. Aloysius School, Pewee Valley, Ky., finished third.

Individual boys’ champions were:

Fifth grade — Drew Doyle of St. Patrick School was first; Andrew Sullivan of St. Albert the Great School was second and Robbie Bender and Hudson Hummell, both of St. Margaret Mary, tied for third place.

Jay Kirchdorfer of Holy Trinity School won the sixth-grade championship. There was a five-way tie for second place between Christian Olsen of Holy Trinity School; Cooper Scott of Notre Dame Academy; Dominic Ramsey of St. Mary Academy; and Joe Steier and Andrew Hinkebein, both of St. Patrick School. Frankie Morgan of St. Mary Academy finished third.

The seventh-grade tournament was won by Cameron Clark of Notre Dame Academy. Reece Pavelonis of St. Patrick School was second and Shawn Deweese of Holy Trinity School was third.
Ryan Murr of St. Albert the Great School won the eighth-grade title. Billy Basham of St. Nicholas Academy was second and three players — Collin Burckle of Sacred Heart Model School, and Jacob Parker and Samuel George, both of Holy Trinity School — tied for third place.

Individual girls’ title winners were:

In the fifth-grade competition, Taylor Edlin of St. Albert the Great School was first, Jackie Steier of St. Patrick School was second, and Breanna O’Keefe of St. Gabriel School and Cameron Martin of St. Patrick School tied for third place.

Erin Rowland of St. Patrick School won the sixth-grade competition. Grace Berger, also of St. Patrick School, was second and Ryan Bender of St. Margaret Mary School was third.

The seventh-grade champion was Morgan Tinsley of St. Patrick School. Ann Palmer of St. Agnes School was second and Rachel Miles of St. Patrick School placed third.

In the eighth-grade tournament, there was a tie for first place between Bailey Wiegandt of St. Gabriel School and Savannah Moss of St. Nicholas Academy. Sydney Smith of St. Albert the Great School finished second and Sydney Fogo and Savannah Ingram of St. Patrick School tied for third place.
