Collection set for hurricane relief

Record Staff Report

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is urging parishes throughout the nation to take up special collections this weekend to aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Hurricane Harvey has caused massive destruction in southeast Texas. In addition to Category 4 hurricane winds, torrential rainfall is affecting Houston and surrounding areas.

The emergency collection will be used both to support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA and to provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses throughout the U.S.

Checks should be made out to Catholic Charities and include the notation: 2017 Hurricane Harvey Collection. They can be returned to the parish or mailed directly to: Catholic Charities, ATTN: 2017 Hurrican Harvey Collection, 2911 South Fourth Street, Louisville, Ky., 40208-1303.
