Catholics @ the Capitol programs set Jan. 9 and 15

Catholics @ the Capitol programs are scheduled at St. Aloysius Church in Pewee Valley, Ky., on Jan. 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at Mercy Academy on Jan. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The events, sponsored by the Catholic Conference of Kentucky and Catholic Charities, will focus on critical issues related to Catholic social teaching that are likely to be discussed in the 2013 Kentucky General Assembly.

Legislators from Jefferson County and other nearby counties have been invited to attend. Among the issues that will be addressed are legislation related to informed consent prior to an abortion, the death penalty, religious liberty, human trafficking, tax reform, payday lending, immigration and education tax credits.
