Catholics honored at annual Right to Life of Louisville banquet

Deacon Syl and Joan Nitzken, members of St. Stephen Martyr Church, and Peggy Boone of St. Gabriel Church were honored by Right to Life of Louisville during the organization’s Celebration of Life Banquet on April 20.

The Nitzkens received the  Dr.  Albert Schweitzer “Humanitarian of the Year” Award “for their selfless dedication to the cause of defending innocent human life,” according to an announcement about the award. The Nitzkens have participated “in an array of Right to Life events for nearly four decades” and they help the disabled and Little Sisters of the Poor.

Boone received the Schuhmann A. Montgomery Sr. “Volunteer of the Year” Award. She has worked with Birthright of Lexington and actively supported crisis pregnancy programs. She currently serves as Respect Life chairman at St. Gabriel, the announcement said.
